Final numbers are tallied and Hutchinson Community Foundation’s Match Day raised nearly $380,000 for area nonprofit organizations and funds.

A steady flow of donors made their way to the Wiley Building in downtown Hutchinson on May 1 to exercise philanthropy and participate in activities that included May Day basket-building, a community paint-by-number, live music atop Hutchinson’s Historic Fox Theatre marquee and food. Satellite giving locations were also set up across Reno County for donors unable to make it to the Wiley, along with a 24-hour online giving option at hutchcf.org.

In all, the event drew 512 donors who gave a total of $379,936.13 to the endowed funds of 38 nonprofit organizations and to eight community funds. Combined with the community foundation’s matching pool of $100,000, a total of $479,936.13 in contributions were made on Match Day. Eleven organizations also received a total of $4,800 in prize grants.

“People from all walks of life came through the doors to support a wide range of organizations. They gave generously, and together, our impact was nearly a half-a-million dollars. We’re so thankful for a generous community that shows up to make a difference,” said Aubrey Abbott Patterson, Hutchinson Community Foundation president and CEO.
