With Hutchinson Community Foundation

Board & Standing Committees

Thank you for your interest in serving on a standing committee or the board of Hutchinson Community Foundation. Serving a nonprofit organization can be a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth. It also requires a commitment of your time, expertise and financial resources.

We know that every person is more diverse than the boxes they check on a form, but we want to know you better and this is a good place to start.

The annual deadline to submit a Profile Form of interest for board or standing committee service is August 15.

Changemakers at Work Grants Committee

At Hutchinson Community Foundation, we know the critical role that strong personal and environmental connections can play in keeping communities healthy and thriving, and we know Reno County is filled with Changemakers ready to continue sparking those connections!

In the Changemakers at Work Grants program, we put building and nurturing community front and center in our grantmaking. We aim to support the work of Changemakers happening in all areas of Reno County, strengthening community connections and pride.

Each year, Hutchinson Community Foundation seeks applicants to participate on the Changemakers at Work Grants Committee who will represent the diversity of Reno County. Over the course of three evening sessions, committee members will:

  • Build relationships with each other and the Community Foundation
  • Learn about philanthropy, grantmaking, and the value of social capital and community confidence
  • Review Changemakers at Work grant proposals from Reno County community-benefit organizations
  • Award $15,000 in Changemakers at Work grants for projects that strengthen the social fabric and unique assets of Reno County, with an additional $15,000 available for selected projects proposed by groups in the Hutchinson Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative

The committee meets approximately four times during the grant cycle’s deliberation period. The committee meets on the following dates and times.

  • Monday, Sept. 30: 5:30 to 8 p.m. (dinner provided)
  • Monday, Oct. 7: 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 21: 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 12: Grant awards presented at Hutchinson’s Historic Fox Theatre – time TBD

Applications are accepted year-round, but for consideration for the 2024 committee, please submit by August 30, 2024.

Youth Philanthropy Council

Armed with $5,000, high school students from across Reno County discuss local issues of concern to youth, learn about grantmaking, and award grants to youth-serving organizations. The Dillon family established the Youth Philanthropy Council Endowment to provide money for the grants and program administration, in honor of Dick Dillon’s extensive philanthropic work in our community.

Meeting times for the 2024-2025 school year will be announced. The council will meet on the following dates and times during the 2024-2025 school year.
