When Abby and Mark Reed began supporting more organizations they cared about, they realized they needed a way to keep track of all the giving.
Enter their financial advisor, Dale Snell.
“When we meet with him, we always go over our charitable giving, and he mentioned that the Community Foundation might be helpful to us to make our giving more streamlined,” Abby Reed said.
Abby, 41, and Mark, 42, are parents to Nathan, 15, and Tyler, 12. The pair, who grew up in Burrton and Sterling, met as students at Sterling College. After a decade living in several states, they settled in Hutchinson in 2013, where Abby volunteers and Mark is a family physician at Hutchinson Clinic.
Through their donor advised fund, the Reeds found a centralized way to support not only their church and alma mater but also organizations such as Central Christian School, Open Door Pregnancy Center and Hutch Rec Foundation.
“Supporting local causes and organizations is one of our passions because we have lots of ties to the community, personally and professionally,” Abby said. “In the future, as we build our DAF, we look forward to working with the Community Foundation to increase our giving and find ways to further impact Hutchinson.”
