21 Jul Foundation awards more than $25K in Fund for Hutchinson grants
Hutchinson Community Foundation awarded $25,560 to three area nonprofit organizations in its recent round of Fund for Hutchinson grants.
Established in 1990, the Fund for Hutchinson serves as a permanent resource for the changing needs of Reno County. More than $3.7 million have been awarded to more than 170 area organizations and agencies from the fund.
Proposals for the grants are accepted year-round, with awards decided in March, May, July, September and November.
The following organizations received grants:
Hutchinson Art Center – $5,560: The art center is collaborating with other diversity-driven organizations to bring a juried exhibition featuring artists of color to the community. The center wants to provide a space for unrepresented artists to showcase their work and the opportunity to be a part of the center’s permanent collection. Funds will assist with advertising costs, musicians for the event and juried awards.
USD 310 Fairfield – $10,000: Funds will help continue and enrich the district’s after-school program, emphasizing the social, emotional, mental and physical health of students as well as providing a safe location for students who have no one at home immediately following school.
Salthawk Community Support – $10,000 per year for two years: Salthawk Community support is a ministry program of Trinity United Methodist Church and receives volunteer and financial support from other local churches and community members. The goal of the program is to work together to remove barriers to education for students at Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Middle School-8 by providing programming – such as mentoring, character-development activities and financial education – alongside offering basic-needs supplies.
