More than $36K awarded to area graduates

More than $36,000 went to area high school students in May from scholarship funds held at Hutchinson Community Foundation.

Recipients of awards administered at the Community Foundation were Mason Kalmar and Paisley Smyth, Fairfield High School, $1,000 and $500 from the Denny Hart Family Athletic Scholarship; Eris Rindt, Newton High School, and Magnolia Foster, Hutchinson High School, $2,000 and $1,000 from The Hutchinson News Future Journalist Scholarship; Copper Collins, Pretty Prairie High School, and Zoe Coonce, Nickerson High School, $2,000 each from the Lois & Avory Johnson Scholarship; and Mackenzie Bell, Kingman High School, $1,000 from the Myrtle F. & M. Eugene Hobson Memorial Scholarship.

Other scholarships awarded this spring were as follows:

  • Byron & Ramona Batthauer Scholarship: Sydney Ford, $3,000, and Riah Zwickl, $1,000, Hutchinson High School
  • Carol J. Wonderlich Scholarship, $1,000: Triniti Harvey, Hutchinson High School
  • Charles Patrick Wolfersberger Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Natalya Green, Hutchinson High School
  • Coberly-Tweito Memorial Scholarship, $4,000: Magnolia Foster and Titan Heneha, Hutchinson High School
  • Hazel Doherty Scholarship, $2,000: Emma English, Hutchinson High School
  • HHS Class of 1947 Scholarship, $200: Grady Bare, HHS
  • HHS Class of 1962 Scholarship, $1,000: Carson Albert and Chloe Inskeep, HHS
  • HHS Class of 1968 Scholarship, $8,000: Hailey Stringfellow, HHS
  • Jennifer A. Goodman Scholarship, $500: Rachel Dominguez, Hutchinson High School
  • Robert R. & Charlene M. Lind Scholarship, $1,000: Sydney Ford, Hutchinson High School
  • Sally Coberly Scholarship, $1,500: Travis Popp, Haven High School
