Hutch CF joins forces with partners, MIT

Hutchinson Community Foundation has entered a unique partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s USA Lab to explore ways to combat what’s known as the benefits “cliff effect” that can frequently occur to those working to move out of poverty.

Throughout the spring, MIT students will study local policies and systems to determine potential changes that could mitigate the cliff effect. Working alongside them will be local project leads Kari Mailloux, Hutch CF director of strategic initiatives; David Dubovich, pastor of Park Place Christian Church; and Shawna Logue, Pathway of Hope coordinator with The Salvation Army. Other community partners involved with the project include the Reno County Health Department, United Way of Reno County and Thrive Collaborative.
