07 Jan Grants at Work: City of Arlington
Over the past few years, as the city of Arlington focused on improving the town’s Community Center with the help of Hutchinson Community Foundation grants, the complex’s outdoor area was still missing a certain … spark.
So in 2018, the “Power to the Playground” initiative aimed to bring electricity to Arlington Community Center’s outdoor area through a $2,500 Make It Greater grant. Awarded in April, the grant-funded voltage has already expanded the center’s functionality, making outdoor concerts and movie nights in the shelter house possible, and eased Build a Playground Day by allowing for the aid of power tools. This is what we get when a committed community joins forces with philanthropy: power in every form.
