Nonprofit Strength Workshop: Leading When Everything Feels Like Too Much

July 16 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Hutchinson Community Foundation is pleased to invite staff and board members of community-based organizations serving Reno County to Leading When Everything Feels Like Too Much, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative. The workshop will be presented by Dale Matherly, Leadership Coach from Matherly Leadership Solutions.

Leading a nonprofit today can feel heavier than it once did. Many leaders are navigating rising community needs, increased polarization, staff fatigue, funding uncertainty, and a persistent sense of urgency. These pressures don’t stay “out there” — they filter into organizations, shape decision-making, and often leave leaders carrying more anxiety than they realize. This interactive workshop explores the concept of societal emotional process — how anxiety in the larger world moves into communities and organizations — and how leaders can respond in ways that create steadiness rather than reactivity. Participants will gain language for what they are experiencing, clarity about how anxiety impacts leadership, and practical tools for leading thoughtfully in uncertain and rapidly changing environments.

Through guided reflection, small-group dialogue, and collaborative conversation using models such as World Café, participants will connect with fellow nonprofit leaders, share experiences, and explore how calm, grounded leadership can foster resilience and hope. This session is designed to leave leaders feeling less alone, more centered, and better equipped to navigate complexity without absorbing the pressure around them. Rather than offering quick fixes, the experience invites leaders to slow down, think clearly, and lead in ways that strengthen both their organizations and the broader Reno County community.

Advance registration is required by July 10, for space is limited. We encourage multiple representatives from each organization to come together for shared learning.
