The Arlington Farm and Art Market was formed to bring fresh produce, baked goods, arts & crafts, live music, and a children’s story time to Arlington. Kelsi Depew, the market’s coordinator, said she was delighted when she realized it also gave the people of Arlington a place to build community.

“We’ve made a choice to create culture rather than just consume culture,” said Depew. “Bringing people from the area together here in Arlington has been so meaningful. My kids have a sense of family right here in our community.”

Those interested in shopping at the market or just soaking up its vibe can join in the fun every Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m., June through September.

Depew is active in Heal Reno County, serving on the Food Policy Council and Healthy Foods Work Group. Her work in Arlington has also been awarded two grants from the Community Foundation: one for improved access to the community center, and the other to fund a community clean-up project.
