Looking for a way to show love and support for their community, Phil Auxier and the church he pastors, Crestview Bible Church, used their location along the trail system in Northwest Hutchinson to their advantage.
After a discussion with the Vitality Team of Reno County, the idea for a bicycle repair station was born. The church began collaborating with area agencies on the project. The City of Hutchinson’s Parks Department offered expertise, and the Friends of the Trail Fund became a funding partner. The church also contributed money from the memorial fund of church member and longtime Parks Department employee, David Gaeddert.
Phase one of the project involved installing a bench and bicycle repair equipment. Phase two, made possible by a Make It Greater Grant from Hutchinson Community Foundation, will add a drinking fountain at the site.
Crestview Bible Church celebrates with all the partners who came together to help with the project, and the the church will continue to provide maintenance and upkeep for the station.
