SUMMARY:Love Where You Live Initiative Information Session
DESCRIPTION:What: Love Where You Live Initiative Information Session\nWhen: Noon Friday\, June 21\nWhere: Via Zoom \nLove Where You Live community Empowerment Initiative \nWhy are we doing this?\nTo provide communities in Reno County (and the county as a whole) with data and a process\, so they can prioritize and plan for a great future. \nStarting with Data\nIn our experience and conversations with experts on community building\, we’ve learned that collecting information about resident perceptions and priorities is a critical first step in creating a strong future for a community. Many community leaders in Reno County have been asking for benchmarking data\, so we’re creating a process for them to do so (cost-free!). \nPrioritize and Plan\nOnce we have the data and benchmarks\, we see an opportunity to bring residents together to … \n\nBuild relationships within and across communities\nIdentify common priorities and coordinate efforts within each community and across the county to create bigger/better solutions by working together\nLaunch projects to address community priorities\n\nImportantly\, this process will help Hutch CF understand how to leverage the Fund for Reno County\, outside funding sources\, and donor passions to accelerate progress within communities and across the county \nThe Process \nIn short\, the Love Where You Live initiative involves a simple process: \n\nSurvey (June-Aug) — Residents take a short survey via online link or paper copy.\nGather (Sept-Nov) — We’ll host gatherings in each community for residents to discuss the results\, prioritize needs\, and brainstorm community projects.\nGrants (Dec-Feb) – Project teams apply for grants from Hutch CF.\nYour community makes progress\, and we repeat this process again in 2025 and 2026.\n\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Register Name *FirstLastAddress *Address Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodeEmail *Phone *Do you represent a business or organization? *YesNoYour role? *Executive directorStaffBoard memberVolunteerPursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above:How did you hear about this event? *Hutch CF EmailHutch CF WebsiteFacebookFriend/colleagueOther:Other way not listed above:Submit

SUMMARY:May 14 Learning Community Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Energy Awareness: Leadership Workshop\nPresented by Kelly Turcotte\, ESSDACK Leadership Coach and Consultant \nDATE: May 14 \nTIME: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (lunch provided) \nPLACE: Hutchinson Community Foundation\, 1 N. Main St. Ste. 501\, Hutchinson\, KS 67501 \nHutchinson Community Foundation hosts a Learning Community series\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative\, open to nonprofit staff and board members to exchange ideas\, strengthen relationships\, and inspire innovation on key aspects of organizational effectiveness. \nOn May 14\, Kelly Turcotte\, ESSDACK INspired Leadership Coach and Consultant\, will lead an Energy Awareness: Leadership Workshop for up to 30 participants. \nDepending on how we perceive a situation\, we are going to experience a mix of two kinds of energy: Catabolic and Anabolic energy. \nCatabolic energy is characterized by destructive\, contracting\, and stressful energy. It’s the kind of energy that’s present when we feel that we “have to” finish a project on time or when we “should” have that difficult conversation with a colleague. Catabolic energy will leave us with a sense that there is a problem and someone is at fault (either ourselves or another person). We might feel stuck\, overwhelmed\, demotivated\, or that a particular aspect of our life or business is out of our control\, negatively affecting our mood. If you’re experiencing catabolic energy\, you may feel stressed\, overwhelmed\, or resistant. \nAnabolic energy\, on the other hand\, is creative\, fueling\, and expanding. At work\, it shows up as enjoyment of the process—even when it’s challenging. It is present in teams where collaboration\, commitment\, belief in one another\, and synergy are the norm. When anabolic energy is present\, there is a sense of motivation\, clarity\, and forward movement.  \nOnce we bring awareness to the kind of energy we are experiencing\, more choices become available to us. \nThe outcome of this workshop is to bring awareness to personal and professional possibilities that can be created when partnering with INspired Leadership. \nAgenda: \n\nWhat is energy and how does it show up through us?\nWhen we judge\, ignore\, or tolerate certain experiences\, how does that impact us\, those we work with\, and our organizational goals?\nWhat choices do we have when we experience stress?\nPractice one tool for shifting from problems to possibilities\nSelf-assess your leadership\nLearn about energy by the numbers\n\nAdvanced registration is required\, for space is limited. \nPost-workshop opportunity for attendees: Complete the Energy Leadership Index (ELI)\, an online assessment that measures individual filters and personal impact. The $250 cost of the assessment is the responsibility of the participant or the participant’s organization. Within seven days of the workshop\, by May 24th\, participants receive a 20% discount for the ELI and debrief. If participants want to include their team within this timeframe\, each person on the team will receive the discount as well. \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Register Name *FirstLastAddress *Address Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodeEmail *Phone *Organization you represent *Your role a the organization *Executive directorStaffBoard memberVolunteerPlease identify any dietary restrictions *Gluten freeDairy freeVeganVegetarianKosherSeafood allergyNut allergyNoneOther:Other dietary restriction not listed above.Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above. How did you hear about this event? *Hutch CF EmailHutch CF WebsiteFacebookFriend/colleagueOther:Other way you heard about this event listed above.Perception RatingsHutchinson Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropy\, leadership\, and collaboration to strengthen Reno County. SUMMARY:An Evening With Ed O'Malley
DESCRIPTION:Where: Hutchinson Art Center\, 405 N. Washington St. \nOur community has said we need to tackle tough challenges—such as the ones we face with child care\, housing and a shrinking population. But what we know is that making progress on issues like those is going to require all of us to exercise leadership. \nThat’s why we are pleased to invite the public to join Ed O’Malley\, CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation\, as he shares his new book\, “When Everyone Leads: How the Toughest Challenges Get Seen and Solved.” He’ll offer a new mindset about leadership\, a way to understand why we’ve been stuck on tough challenges\, and some tools and tactics to move forward. Learn more about the book: bit.ly/3KPDI2d. \n“Ultimately\, I hope our Reno County friends will dig deep into the key argument of the book: That it’s when EVERYONE (or enough of everyone) leads that we make progress on our most difficult challenges\,” O’Malley says. “I hope this book helps Reno County get to the ‘tipping point’ of enough people leading. If so\, I know game-changing progress will be just around the corner.” \nAdmission to the event is free. \nTogether\, we can seize opportunities and make more progress. \nO’Malley founded the Kansas Leadership Center in 2007\, serving as president and CEO for 15 years. A former Kansas state legislator and gubernatorial aide\, Ed has co-authored three previous books including “Your Leadership Edge” and “For the Common Good.”

SUMMARY:Professional Advisors Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Where: Prairie Dunes Country Club\, 4812 E. 30th Ave.\, Hutchinson\, Kansas \nContact: Wendy Skellenger | wendy@hutchcf.org | 620-663-5293 \nCost: Free \nHutchinson Community Foundation welcomes back Kathryn W. Miree\, president of Kathryn W. Miree & Associates\, to lead our Professional Advisors Workshop. The session is titled “Seven Options in Family Philanthropy” and is approved for two hours of CLE/CE for attorneys\, accountants\, trust officers and insurance agents. \nThe workshop will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres will be served at a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. following the workshop. Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. RSVP is required by filling out the form below. \nHigh net worth clients\, and even those who do not have a lot of assets\, are increasingly interested in passing their values to younger generations by creating an institutional platform for family philanthropy. While private foundations are often the “go to” family philanthropy platform\, private foundations are not always the answer because of the limitations on funding\, paperwork and regulations around grants\, required annual distributions\, and self-dealing rule compliance. In this session\, Ms. Miree will discuss multiple options for family philanthropy\, provide a checklist to help advisors analyze client goals\, and provide insight into philanthropy forms that include private foundations\, supporting organizations\, donor advised funds\, charitable lead trusts\, and other even easier options. She will show how to lead donors through the goal-setting discussion and select the entity that best meets their needs. \nAfter roles as president & CEO of the Trust Company at Sterne\, Agee & Leach and as senior vice president and manager of the Personal Trust Division at AmSouth Bank (now Regions)\, Miree established Kathryn W. Miree & Associates in 1997 to focus on charitable gift planning\, administration and compliance in management of planned gifts and endowments\, and effective communication with and engagement of donors. Her clients include nonprofits from all charitable sectors across the U.S. and in Canada. She is a graduate of Emory University and The University of Alabama School of Law and is a member of the Alabama Bar Association. \nMs. Miree has been a member of numerous professional associations\, including as past president of the National Committee on Planned Giving\, past president of the Alabama Planned Giving Council\, and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Birmingham. She was inducted into the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners Hall of Fame in 2018 and the National Estate Planners and Councils Estate Planning Hall of Fame in 2020. She is a frequent lecturer\, co-author of “The Family Foundation Handbook” and author of “The Professional Advisor’s Guide to Planned Giving.” \n[captainform id=”1339175″]

DESCRIPTION:WHEN: \n\n8:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 5\n3 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 6\n6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9\n\nWHERE: Parker Student Union\, campus of Hutchinson Community College\, 1300 N. Plum St. \nSandtray processing can be a powerful way of mindful and creative reflection\, and it is frequently used in the therapy room for children\, adults\, families\, and groups. Items and/or words are placed in a sandtray to process various themes. In partnership with Hutchinson Community Foundation\, Melody Wagler\, therapist at Hutchinson Community College\, will be offering various group sandtray processing times to community partners as a way to reflect on where each of us is currently and where we want or hope to be as people working to better the community. The group experience is intended to be a mindful and hopeful reflection on growth and change in the past year and to foster connection with nine other community members. (A side bonus is getting to learn about and experience pieces of what sandtray processing could be in a therapy setting.) It is offered at three times in early August to accommodate different schedules and will be held at the Hutchinson Community College Parker Student Union. \nTo register for a session\, please complete the form below by July 30. \n[captainform id=”1329306″]

SUMMARY:October Community Connect: Speed Mentoring
DESCRIPTION:Where: Collaboration Corner\, Hutchinson Community Foundation\, 1 N. Main St.\, Suite 501 \nContact: Wendy Skellenger | wendy@hutchcf.org | 620-663-5293 \nAs part of Hutchinson Community Foundation’s Community Connect series to inspire innovative leadership and collaboration\, we invite nonprofit staff to a Speed Mentoring event on Thursday\, Oct. 17\, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in our Collaboration Corner. \nThis is a valuable opportunity to meet or further the connection with nonprofit professionals across sectors in Reno County. In a concept similar to speed dating\, half of the attendees stay seated at tables\, while the other half rotates every five minutes. Depending on the size of the group\, we may do some large group and small group connection\, as well. \nWe believe everyone at every level of experience has something to contribute\, so we won’t label anyone officially as a mentor or mentee. The goal is to start conversations or spark relationships that should be continued and pursued beyond the event. \nCome to make connections\, ask questions\, and share ideas. \nDrinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and light appetizers will be provided. \nRegister by filling out the form below. \n[captainform id=”1288685″]

SUMMARY:Board Experience Team
DESCRIPTION:WHERE: Collaboration Corner\, 1 N. Main St.\, Suite 501\, Hutchinson \nCONTACT: Wendy Skellenger | wendy@hutchcf.org | 620-663-5293 \nFor some time\, we have been hearing frustration from nonprofit staff across Reno County about a lack of knowledge and engagement from some of their board members. Though the Community Foundation has hosted occasional workshops aimed at board governance and development\, it is difficult to reach a critical mass of understanding and involvement\, particularly when boards are always changing. Therefore\, we are interested in how we can build a board member experience into the system of services in Reno County. We are particularly interested in educating new board members about the role and responsibilities of board service\, adaptive leadership\, and systems thinking. \nUsing a design thinking and systems thinking approach\, we invite interested nonprofit staff\, board members\, or volunteers to collaborate with us on creating this experience. We will conduct an initial meeting to get to know one another and discuss the design process on Friday\, Aug. 16\, from 9 to 10 a.m. in Hutch CF’s Collaboration Corner. This is a short-term team that will likely meet five to six times over the span of several months to complete the process of designing the board member experience we desire. \nIf you are interested in participating on this team\, please RSVP by filling out the form below. \n[captainform id=”1280783″]
