SUMMARY:Learning Community Series: Storytelling with Data
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Storytelling with Data: Masterclass for Local Nonprofit Leaders\nWHEN: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 10\nWHERE: Hutchinson Community Foundation\, 1 N. Main St.\, Ste. 501 \nHutchinson Community Foundation is pleased to invite staff\, board members\, and volunteers of community-based organizations serving Reno County to our summer Learning Community Series\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative. With this series\, we aim to provide opportunities for professional development through peer learning and workshops with regional leaders in the field.   \nData alone can inform\, but stories make it resonate. This masterclass with Lori Bower\, president of BowerComm\, is designed for nonprofit leaders who want to move beyond dry statistics and transform data into compelling narratives that inspire action. Whether you’re crafting your next report\, grant application\, or community presentation\, this session will provide you with practical tools to engage audiences and drive impact through storytelling.  \nYou will learn to:  \n\nUnderstand Your Data’s Story: Identify key insights and trends that matter most to your stakeholders. \nFind the “Why” Behind the Numbers: Connect data to emotional\, relatable narratives that highlight your mission. \nVisualize Data Effectively: Discover tools and techniques for creating impactful charts\, graphs\, and visuals that amplify your story. \nCraft Stories for Different Audiences: Tailor your storytelling approach for donors\, board members\, and community partners. \n\nKey Takeaways:  \n\nA framework for analyzing and presenting data in a meaningful way. \nTips for integrating visuals into reports and presentations. \nInspiration from real-world examples of nonprofits that successfully use data storytelling to motivate donors and stakeholders. \n\nAbout Lori Bower  \nIn 2009\, after a seven-year stint working for agencies in Chicago\, Lori and her husband decided to call it quits on city life and return to live on the family farm in central Kansas. Armed with knowledge from working on Fortune 300 brands\, Lori launched BowerComm in January 2010 in response to a trend she was seeing: organizations running to try the latest marketing fad without thinking through what would really make a difference. Throughout her 25+ year career\, she’s helped clients ranging from local companies and nonprofits to global conglomerates. Now\, BowerComm works with over 50 clients across the U.S. and has 15 employees.  \nLunch will be served. Advance registration is required by July 7\, for space is limited to 30 in each workshop. We encourage two people from each organization to come together for shared learning.  \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Register Name *FirstLastAddress *Address Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodeEmail *Phone *Organization you represent *Your role a the organization *Executive directorStaffBoard memberVolunteerPlease identify any dietary restrictions *Gluten freeDairy freeVeganVegetarianKosherSeafood allergyNut allergyNoneOther:Other dietary restriction not listed above.Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? SUMMARY:Love Where You Live Initiative Information Session
DESCRIPTION:What: Love Where You Live Initiative Information Session\nWhen: Noon Friday\, June 21\nWhere: Via Zoom \nLove Where You Live community Empowerment Initiative \nWhy are we doing this?\nTo provide communities in Reno County (and the county as a whole) with data and a process\, so they can prioritize and plan for a great future. \nStarting with Data\nIn our experience and conversations with experts on community building\, we’ve learned that collecting information about resident perceptions and priorities is a critical first step in creating a strong future for a community. Many community leaders in Reno County have been asking for benchmarking data\, so we’re creating a process for them to do so (cost-free!). \nPrioritize and Plan\nOnce we have the data and benchmarks\, we see an opportunity to bring residents together to … \n\nBuild relationships within and across communities\nIdentify common priorities and coordinate efforts within each community and across the county to create bigger/better solutions by working together\nLaunch projects to address community priorities\n\nImportantly\, this process will help Hutch CF understand how to leverage the Fund for Reno County\, outside funding sources\, and donor passions to accelerate progress within communities and across the county \nThe Process \nIn short\, the Love Where You Live initiative involves a simple process: \n\nSurvey (June-Aug) — Residents take a short survey via online link or paper copy.\nGather (Sept-Nov) — We’ll host gatherings in each community for residents to discuss the results\, prioritize needs\, and brainstorm community projects.\nGrants (Dec-Feb) – Project teams apply for grants from Hutch CF.\nYour community makes progress\, and we repeat this process again in 2025 and 2026.\n\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Register Name *FirstLastAddress *Address Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodeEmail *Phone *Do you represent a business or organization? *YesNoYour role? *Executive directorStaffBoard memberVolunteerPursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above:How did you hear about this event? *Hutch CF EmailHutch CF WebsiteFacebookFriend/colleagueOther:Other way not listed above:Submit

SUMMARY:May 14 Learning Community Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Energy Awareness: Leadership Workshop\nPresented by Kelly Turcotte\, ESSDACK Leadership Coach and Consultant \nDATE: May 14 \nTIME: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (lunch provided) \nPLACE: Hutchinson Community Foundation\, 1 N. Main St. Ste. 501\, Hutchinson\, KS 67501 \nHutchinson Community Foundation hosts a Learning Community series\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative\, open to nonprofit staff and board members to exchange ideas\, strengthen relationships\, and inspire innovation on key aspects of organizational effectiveness. \nOn May 14\, Kelly Turcotte\, ESSDACK INspired Leadership Coach and Consultant\, will lead an Energy Awareness: Leadership Workshop for up to 30 participants. \nDepending on how we perceive a situation\, we are going to experience a mix of two kinds of energy: Catabolic and Anabolic energy. \nCatabolic energy is characterized by destructive\, contracting\, and stressful energy. It’s the kind of energy that’s present when we feel that we “have to” finish a project on time or when we “should” have that difficult conversation with a colleague. Catabolic energy will leave us with a sense that there is a problem and someone is at fault (either ourselves or another person). We might feel stuck\, overwhelmed\, demotivated\, or that a particular aspect of our life or business is out of our control\, negatively affecting our mood. If you’re experiencing catabolic energy\, you may feel stressed\, overwhelmed\, or resistant. \nAnabolic energy\, on the other hand\, is creative\, fueling\, and expanding. At work\, it shows up as enjoyment of the process—even when it’s challenging. It is present in teams where collaboration\, commitment\, belief in one another\, and synergy are the norm. When anabolic energy is present\, there is a sense of motivation\, clarity\, and forward movement.  \nOnce we bring awareness to the kind of energy we are experiencing\, more choices become available to us. \nThe outcome of this workshop is to bring awareness to personal and professional possibilities that can be created when partnering with INspired Leadership. \nAgenda: \n\nWhat is energy and how does it show up through us?\nWhen we judge\, ignore\, or tolerate certain experiences\, how does that impact us\, those we work with\, and our organizational goals?\nWhat choices do we have when we experience stress?\nPractice one tool for shifting from problems to possibilities\nSelf-assess your leadership\nLearn about energy by the numbers\n\nAdvanced registration is required\, for space is limited. \nPost-workshop opportunity for attendees: Complete the Energy Leadership Index (ELI)\, an online assessment that measures individual filters and personal impact. The $250 cost of the assessment is the responsibility of the participant or the participant’s organization. Within seven days of the workshop\, by May 24th\, participants receive a 20% discount for the ELI and debrief. If participants want to include their team within this timeframe\, each person on the team will receive the discount as well. *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above. How did you hear about this event? *Hutch CF EmailHutch CF WebsiteFacebookFriend/colleagueOther:Other way you heard about this event listed above.Perception RatingsHutchinson Community Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropy\, leadership\, and collaboration to strengthen Reno County.
