SUMMARY:Learning Community Series: Storytelling with Data
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Storytelling with Data: Masterclass for Local Nonprofit Leaders\nWHEN: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 10\nWHERE: Hutchinson Community Foundation\, 1 N. Main St.\, Ste. 501 \nHutchinson Community Foundation is pleased to invite staff\, board members\, and volunteers of community-based organizations serving Reno County to our summer Learning Community Series\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative. With this series\, we aim to provide opportunities for professional development through peer learning and workshops with regional leaders in the field.   \nData alone can inform\, but stories make it resonate. This masterclass with Lori Bower\, president of BowerComm\, is designed for nonprofit leaders who want to move beyond dry statistics and transform data into compelling narratives that inspire action. Whether you’re crafting your next report\, grant application\, or community presentation\, this session will provide you with practical tools to engage audiences and drive impact through storytelling.  \nYou will learn to:  \n\nUnderstand Your Data’s Story: Identify key insights and trends that matter most to your stakeholders. \nFind the “Why” Behind the Numbers: Connect data to emotional\, relatable narratives that highlight your mission. \nVisualize Data Effectively: Discover tools and techniques for creating impactful charts\, graphs\, and visuals that amplify your story. \nCraft Stories for Different Audiences: Tailor your storytelling approach for donors\, board members\, and community partners. \n\nKey Takeaways:  \n\nA framework for analyzing and presenting data in a meaningful way. \nTips for integrating visuals into reports and presentations. \nInspiration from real-world examples of nonprofits that successfully use data storytelling to motivate donors and stakeholders. \n\nAbout Lori Bower  \nIn 2009\, after a seven-year stint working for agencies in Chicago\, Lori and her husband decided to call it quits on city life and return to live on the family farm in central Kansas. Armed with knowledge from working on Fortune 300 brands\, Lori launched BowerComm in January 2010 in response to a trend she was seeing: organizations running to try the latest marketing fad without thinking through what would really make a difference. Throughout her 25+ year career\, she’s helped clients ranging from local companies and nonprofits to global conglomerates. Now\, BowerComm works with over 50 clients across the U.S. and has 15 employees.  \nLunch will be served. Advance registration is required by July 7\, for space is limited to 30 in each workshop. We encourage two people from each organization to come together for shared learning.  \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Register Name *FirstLastAddress *Address Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodeEmail *Phone *Organization you represent *Your role a the organization *Executive directorStaffBoard memberVolunteerPlease identify any dietary restrictions *Gluten freeDairy freeVeganVegetarianKosherSeafood allergyNut allergyNoneOther: \n this Pursuant Americans\n \n \n Other dietary restriction not listed above.Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? SUMMARY:Youth Philanthropy Council Awards Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this year’s Youth Philanthropy Council awards ceremony\, held at the Hutchinson Art Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday\, March 8. \nEach spring the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC)\, made up of Reno County high school students\, distributes approximately $5\,000 in grants to youth-serving organizations from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy. \nYPC is a grantmaking program designed to involve area students in philanthropy: the practice of giving money\, time and talents to help make life better for other people. The group began meeting in November to discuss local issues of concern to youth and the community\, learn about grantmaking\, and present grants to youth-serving organizations. \nThe grants were awarded from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy\, established by the Dillon family to honor Dick Dillon for his extensive philanthropic work in the community. \nThe 14 members of the 2025-2026 council are Ryan Cherry and Benjamin Gazaway (Buhler High School); Gavin Foster and Lucy Steen (Fairfield High School); Madison Richey and Kalya Rose (Haven High School); Annalee Eckhoff\, Leah Foos\, Margaret Kaplan\, Kinsley Koestel\, and Blake Patterson (Hutchinson High School); Will Barkley and Isaiah Hathaway (Nickerson High School); Sam Vogel (Trinity Catholic High School).

SUMMARY:Grant Identification and Writing Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:  \nHutchinson Community Foundation is pleased to invite staff and board members of community-based organizations serving Reno County to Grant Identification and Writing Best Practices\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative. The workshop will be presented by Hutch CF Senior Program Officer Jan Steen.   \nThrough this workshop series\, we aim to strengthen Reno County’s nonprofit sector by providing opportunities for professional development\, peer learning\, and connection with regional leaders in the field. Each workshop is designed not only to build skills but also to create space for organizations to exchange ideas\, strengthen relationships\, and spark new approaches to common challenges.  \nSecuring grant funding can feel complex and time-consuming\, especially when organizations are balancing many priorities. This hands-on\, practical workshop will help participants better understand where to find funding opportunities and how to craft stronger proposals that clearly communicate their impact and vision.  \nParticipants will explore effective strategies for identifying grant opportunities\, developing a compelling problem statement\, and using simple planning tools to strengthen their applications. You’ll also learn how to align project goals\, activities\, and budgets using logic models and other grant planning techniques.  \nThroughout the session\, participants will have the opportunity to learn alongside peers\, share experiences\, and discuss common grant writing challenges and strategies. The goal is for attendees to leave with greater confidence\, practical tools\, and new connections to support their work.  \nPlease bring a laptop or tablet so you can follow along and apply what you’re learning during the workshop.  \nKey Takeaways  \n\nStrategies and tools to identify relevant grant opportunities \nPractical tips for writing clear and compelling problem statements \nA basic understanding of how to use logic models to plan strong grant proposals \nGuidance on developing realistic and aligned project budgets \nIncreased confidence in navigating the grant writing and funding landscape \nNew connections with peers working to strengthen Reno County \n\nAbout Jan Steen  \nJan brings nearly 15 years of experience working with communities and nonprofits in Kansas. In his previous role with K-State Extension\, he taught workshops focused on funding searches and grant writing\, identified and helped local organizations bring over $1.8 million in funding to the state\, served on a statewide grant review and management team with the Kansas PRIDE community improvement initiative\, and wrote multiple successful funding proposals to address state and local priority needs. Jan continues to support communities and nonprofits through his work at Hutch CF with grant searches\, application reviews\, resource connections\, and presenting capacity-building workshops.  \n  \nThis workshop requires advanced registration by April 20\, for space is limited. We encourage two people from each organization to come together for shared learning.  Please fill out the registration form below for all participants.  \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLast \n Name Pursuant Other\n \n \n Organization *Role at organization *Executive DirectorStaffBoardVolunteerEmail *Phone *AddressAddress Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodePursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above. Please identify any dietary restrictions. *Gluten freeDairy freeVeganVegetarianKosherSeafood allergyNut allergyNoneOther:Other dietary restriction not listed above.Submit
