SUMMARY:Grant Identification and Writing Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:  \nHutchinson Community Foundation is pleased to invite staff and board members of community-based organizations serving Reno County to Grant Identification and Writing Best Practices\, part of our Nonprofit Strength Initiative. The workshop will be presented by Hutch CF Senior Program Officer Jan Steen.   \nThrough this workshop series\, we aim to strengthen Reno County’s nonprofit sector by providing opportunities for professional development\, peer learning\, and connection with regional leaders in the field. Each workshop is designed not only to build skills but also to create space for organizations to exchange ideas\, strengthen relationships\, and spark new approaches to common challenges.  \nSecuring grant funding can feel complex and time-consuming\, especially when organizations are balancing many priorities. This hands-on\, practical workshop will help participants better understand where to find funding opportunities and how to craft stronger proposals that clearly communicate their impact and vision.  \nParticipants will explore effective strategies for identifying grant opportunities\, developing a compelling problem statement\, and using simple planning tools to strengthen their applications. You’ll also learn how to align project goals\, activities\, and budgets using logic models and other grant planning techniques.  \nThroughout the session\, participants will have the opportunity to learn alongside peers\, share experiences\, and discuss common grant writing challenges and strategies. The goal is for attendees to leave with greater confidence\, practical tools\, and new connections to support their work.  \nPlease bring a laptop or tablet so you can follow along and apply what you’re learning during the workshop.  \nKey Takeaways  \n\nStrategies and tools to identify relevant grant opportunities \nPractical tips for writing clear and compelling problem statements \nA basic understanding of how to use logic models to plan strong grant proposals \nGuidance on developing realistic and aligned project budgets \nIncreased confidence in navigating the grant writing and funding landscape \nNew connections with peers working to strengthen Reno County \n\nAbout Jan Steen  \nJan brings nearly 15 years of experience working with communities and nonprofits in Kansas. In his previous role with K-State Extension\, he taught workshops focused on funding searches and grant writing\, identified and helped local organizations bring over $1.8 million in funding to the state\, served on a statewide grant review and management team with the Kansas PRIDE community improvement initiative\, and wrote multiple successful funding proposals to address state and local priority needs. Jan continues to support communities and nonprofits through his work at Hutch CF with grant searches\, application reviews\, resource connections\, and presenting capacity-building workshops.  \n  \nThis workshop requires advanced registration by April 20\, for space is limited. We encourage two people from each organization to come together for shared learning.  Please fill out the registration form below for all participants.  \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLast \n Other Pursuant \n \n \n Organization *Role at organization *Executive DirectorStaffBoardVolunteerEmail *Phone *AddressAddress Line 1Address Line 2City--- Select state ---AlabamaAlaskaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingStateZip CodePursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act\, do you require aids or services? *American Sign Language (ASL) InterpreterAssistive Listening DeviceCaptioningLarge PrintBrailleReserved SeatingNoneOther:Other aid or service not listed above. Please identify any dietary restrictions. *Gluten freeDairy freeVeganVegetarianKosherSeafood allergyNut allergyNoneOther:Other dietary restriction not listed above.Submit
