Foundation welcomes communications officer

The Hutchinson Community Foundation announces the staff addition of Wendy Skellenger as communications officer.

Skellenger will help expand awareness of the foundation by telling the stories of its grants, donors, grant recipients and program initiatives and overseeing its social media presence and website.

“We are thrilled to add Wendy’s experience, expertise, and commitment to Reno County to our staff. With Wendy on board, the community foundation will be better able to highlight the pressing needs of our community and celebrate the people who make this a great place to live,” Aubrey Abbott Patterson, foundation president and CEO, said.

Skellenger comes to the foundation after working for 11 years in various roles at The Hutchinson News, most recently as assistant managing editor. She grew up in Nickerson, attended Nickerson schools and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and minor in history from Wichita State University.

“I’m excited to help further the public’s knowledge of such a community force and to work with a team so committed to the future of Hutchinson and Reno County,” Skellenger said.

She lives in Hutchinson.
