Other Grant Opportunities

Special grants further special issues

In addition to the grants from the Fund for Hutchinson, we administer a number of grant programs for funds that have particular areas of focus.

Make it Greater Grants

Make it Greater grants are small grants that can make a big difference in Reno County Communities. Funds for these grants come from the Fund for Hutchinson, which is the unrestricted community fund for the changing needs of Reno County. Make it Greater grants will fund projects that:
  • Bring people together and provide opportunities for positive social interaction and benefit through volunteer work or community-building efforts.
  • Connect people to the environment around them in new ways to increase community pride and identity.
  • Build on our communitiesí assets and unique qualities.
Please check back in January when the 2018 grant cycle will open.

Charles E. Carey Memorial Fund

The Charles E. Carey Memorial Fund of the Hutchinson Community Foundation is a resource for Reno County nonprofits that strengthen our community in the areas of arts and culture; education, with an emphasis on early childhood development; and health, with an emphasis on substance abuse prevention and rehabilitation, mental health, and disability supports.

The application cycle for 2017 is closed. Check back in December for information about the 2018 cycle.

Youth Philanthropy Council

The Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) is a youth-led grantmaking program designed to involve Reno County students in philanthropy. YPC members from high schools across the county are recruited to:
  • Identify and prioritize needs for youth in our community
  • Establish criteria for the selection of youth-focused grant proposals
  • Review grant proposals
  • Make final decisions on which proposals to fund
  • Award the grants
Each spring the YPC distributes approximately $3,000 in grants which come from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy. The Dillon family established the fund to honor Dick Dillon as a tribute to the extensive philanthropic work he was responsible for in our community.

The 2017 application cycle is closed. Please check back in December for information about the 2018 cycle. If you have questions contact Sarah Blake.
